Discussing distracted driving and Pennsylvania's laws

In the last month, we've written a couple of posts that focus on teenage drivers -- who are more prone to being distracted behind the wheel -- and self-driving cars. The slant is this: technology and driving are becoming intertwined. In some ways, this is a good thing. In other ways, this is a dangerous development. Who's at fault in a slip and fall injury?

If you are out running errands and you get injured from a fall, is someone at fault? Do you just have to accept that accidents happen and deal with the damage, or can someone be held accountable? If you slip due to a dangerous condition, such as a wet floor or torn carpet, it's possible that you can make a premises liability claim for your injury.

Pennsylvania man awarded nearly $9 million for loss of his legs

Though most doctors, nurses and other medical professionals in Pennsylvania are hardworking and dedicated, it is an unfortunate reality that medical malpractice happens. Careless mistakes in the examination room or on the operating table can have lifelong consequences for the patient. Even if the malpractice is not fatal, you could face a lifelong disability that severely affects your quality of life and ability to care for yourself.

Teen driver deaths increase for the first time in 10 years

A recent study published by the Governor's Highway Safety Association, titled Mission Not Accomplished, analyzed teen driving deaths since 2005. From 2005 to 2014, the number of deaths caused by teen drivers decreased dramatically, from 7,500 in 2005 to 3,885 in 2014. While every traffic death is a tragic event, the overall decrease in deaths was unquestionably a positive trend.
