Daughter pursues appeal in malpractice suit

More and more today, Pennsylvania residents are learning that it is important for them to take a proactive approach to their own health care. There are many reasons for this including the fact that medical errors can and do happen. Among the many types of mistakes that can be made are those that involve a missed diagnosis or a wrong diagnosis. Both may lead to the lack of treatment or the administration of the wrong treatment that cannot effectively help the true problem.

One woman who lost her father to a case of acute gastrointestinal bleeding almost four and a half years ago has been pursuing compensation for this type of problem ever since. Sadly, her efforts have yet to result in the outcome she believes she is due. In December of 2012, her father who was 75 years old at the time went to a hospital because of severe abdominal pain. He was kept and treated for diarrhea but then released that day.

After returning to the hospital the next day as the symptoms were no better, the true problem was diagnosed. Eleven days later after multiple operations and attempts at treatment, the man died. The daughter pursued a lawsuit that recently went before the Supreme Court in an appeal of a lower court's decision. The Supreme Court upheld the original decision. It is not known yet if the woman will attempt any further actions.

Pennsylvania residents may find it helpful to get legal consultations after a medical problem to learn what type of options they have.
