
Jennifer L. Damelio is a principal attorney at Friedman Schuman, where she concentrates her work in all areas of estate planning, elder law and estate and trust administration, including powers of attorney. Jennifer also helps clients with planning for reduction of PA inheritance tax and gift and estate taxes, and assists clients with special needs trusts, guardianship matters, long-term medical care planning and business succession planning.
Jennifer works with individuals and families on a variety of matters that are central to their lives and their legacies, and often works alongside a family’s other trusted advisors such as accountants, financial advisors, and other counsel to assure that her client’s goals are achieved.
Her work includes the preparation of planning documents from basic wills to complex trusts designed for tax efficiency, public benefits eligibility, and asset preservation. In her guardianship and special needs practice she counsels individuals and prepares plans that allow for the preservation of governmental benefits and maximizing available resources. She also often works with families on long-term care planning, including planning to achieve or maintain Medicaid eligibility. She also gives presentations to various organizations, community groups, and other attorneys on these matters.
Jennifer has given a number of presentations to various organizations and community groups. Her recent speaking engagements include a presentation on “Drafting a Last-Minute Estate Plan for a Sick or Dying Client” for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, and “Navigating Legal and Ethical Issues in Caring For and Counseling Elders” for the American Society on Aging’s national conference.
